What a Feeling
First when there's nothing
but a slow glowing dream
that your fear seems to hide
deep inside your mind.
All alone I have cried
silent tears full of pride
in a world made of steel,
made of stone.
Well, I hear the music,
close my eyes, feel the rhythm,
wrap around, take a hold
of my heart.
What a feeling.
Bein's believin'.
I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life.
Take your passion
and make it happen.
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life.
Now I hear the music,
close my eyes, I am rhythm.
In a flash it takes hold
of my heart.
What a feeling.
Bein's believin'.
I can have it all, now I'm dancing for my life.
Take your passion
and make it happen.
Pictures come alive, now I'm dancing through my life.
What a feeling.
What a feeling I AM MUSIC NOW
Bein's believin'. I AM RHYTHM NOW
Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life.
What a feeling. YOU CAN REALLY HAVE IT ALL
What a feeling. PICTURES COME ALIVE WHEN I CALL
I can have it all I CAN REALLY HAVE IT ALL
Have it all PICTURES COME ALIVE WHEN I CALL
CALL CALL CALL CALL WHAT A FEELING
I can have it all BEIN'S BELIEVIN
Bein's believin' TAKE YOUR PASSION
MAKE IT HAPPEN
make it happen WHAT A FEELING
what a feeling BEIN'S BELIEVIN' (fade)
I picked up a copy of Flashdance on DVD from Tower at the WOW.

Although I would rate the theme song as one of the best dance songs from the 80s, I had never had a chance to see the entire movie without breaks and stops. I was able to watch most of it last night. I got up to the point where Jennifer Beals throws the rock through the window due to a simple misunderstanding. I guess those dancer girls run a little bit hot. There is a great breakdancing sequence where the dancer and the figure skater come across the guys dancing on the sheet of cardboard in the street.

It's amazing how much they showcase there. I was pretty good at the slow-motion stuff, moonwalk forward and backward, the robot. I had mastered handspins and kneespins and was working on headspins when I hurt my neck. It was hatha yoga that gave me back my movement. I'm, like, better than new now.

Irene Cara - my sisters and I used to watch Fame (TV) religiously. I guess I'm the only one that went for it. Back where I come from, the high school was rather small (just 150 kids from 7-12), so no 'special schools' for entertainers. I thought the Hillary Duff movie was good, even if rather light. But School of Rock, now there is a movie which perfectly captures the excitement and challenge of starting your own band. I mean, it's perfect really.

Ultimately, entertainment can become a path to master one's own self. It's a matter of focus: working on your own human development like a form of art. A private, personal art. No judges on that path. Just conscience. Even if I can't dance hip-hop, I could go toe-to-toe with Missy Elliot on crazy style. That's a fact.

Any truly passionate, creative act is going to look crazy. That's just how it is.
